The purpose of our four-year degree program in B.S. (Bachelor of Science) in Information Technology and Security is to provide education and training in information technology management emphasizing the changing role of IT in the 21st century, introducing the fastest growing educational program in information assurance – information security, safe computing, information privacy, and internet safety – emphasizing its role in personal and corporate computing and educate students about intelligence creation, storage, and distribution to take challenges created by new positions in IT industry.

Information Technology Security majors must choose to concentrate in one of two areas:

Information Technology Management Concentration, B.S.

The Information Technology Management (ITM) program emphasizes the changing role of IT in the 21st century. The program focuses on information security, safe computing, information privacy, and internet safety – emphasizing its role in personal and corporate computing. Students also learn about intelligence creation, storage, and distribution. This unique track includes training in e-commerce and software engineering.

Requirements

Majors concentrating in ITM must complete, with a “C” average or better, the following requirements:

  • Core requirements: ITS 150, 200, 250, 275, 345, 351, 410, and 465
  • ITS 235
  • Three of the following courses: ITS 245, 280, 360, 365, 375, 420, 430, 450, and 470
  • 12 hours at the 200-level or above in ACCT, BADM, and/or ECON

Information Security Concentration, BS

The Information Security (IS) concentration is designed to provide education and training in information technology management emphasizing information security/cybersecurity, safe computing, information privacy, and internet safety.

Requirements

Majors concentrating in IS must complete, with a “C” average or better, the following requirements:

  • Core requirements: ITS 150, 200, 250, 275, 345, 351, 410, and 465
  • ITS 300
  • Three of the following courses: ITS 235, 310, 360, 365, 375, 425, 450, 460, and 470
  • 12 hours at the 200-level or above in CRIM and/or HSEC
