Campbell University provides opportunities in percussion
both as a
Concert Percussion Ensemble (CU Instrumental Studies)
and as an indoor
Winter Percussion ensemble (Athletic Bands).
Campbell University’s Percussion Ensemble is a musical ensemble consisting mainly of percussion instruments, including pitched percussion and auxiliary percussion. Pitched percussion includes any instrument that has a pitch, such as the marimba, vibraphone, xylophone, glockenspiel, etc. Auxiliary percussion includes non-pitched percussion instruments, such as the snare drum, cymbals, tambourine, etc. The ensemble rehearses during the spring for two hours each week and is offered to any musician that can read music.
Eligibility & Requirements
- The ensemble is open to all students.
- Participating students can receive Fine Arts credit when they enroll in Percussion Ensemble (MUSC 458).
Campbell University’s Winter Percussion is a performance team that consists of percussionist and non-percussions (interested in playing percussion) that includes choreography and performance. The groups performs on campus, in the community, and also participates as part of the AIA indoor percussion circuit. They rehearse on Monday and Wednesday evenings through the spring and is an extension of the Sound to Sandhills programs and teams.
Eligibility & Requirements
- The ensemble is open to all students.
- Participating students must enroll in Athletic Bands MUSC 460.
- There are no fees to be a member of the indoor percussion program.
- All uniforms and equipment are provided by the program.

Rehearsal Times
The ensemble meets in the spring semester each year based on availability of performers in the Band Room (#153) of Taylor Bott Rogers Fine Arts Building.
Concert Attire
Ensemble performance attire:
- Women – all black attire in the form of dresses, skirts, blouses, or dress pants
- Men – All Black
Winter Percussion attire:
- Black Pants, Black Marching Shoes
- Other Uniform parts provided
